Past & Future

Old Dominion University, a public doctoral research institution with its main campus in Norfolk, Va., is a national leader in distance learning. ODU’s original satellite delivery program, TELETECHNET, was launched in 1994 in partnership with the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) to provide quality higher education to students at a distance, especially in areas with limited educational opportunities. Faculty Spotlight

Dr. Jennifer Kidd

Dr. Jennifer Kidd is one of three recipients of the Teaching with Technology Award for 2012. She has served as lecturer in ODU's Department of Teaching and Learning since 2007. She has had many roles at ODU, including graduate student, graduate assistant, adjunct faculty and project manager for a $1.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

Distance Learning Locations

Old Dominion University is one of the largest providers of distance learning degree programs in the country. The University serves students at nearly 50 sites in Virginia, Arizona and Washington, as well as Internet students and video streamers from a variety of locations, and military personnel taking classes while deployed around the world.
