This is a degree completion program, which means you should already have college credits for the lower division coursework.
Transfer credit may be granted if you graduated from a medical laboratory technician certification program, took courses at another institution, or have related military experience. Lower Division Departmental Requirements
These courses are specific to the Medical Laboratory Science degree. Some of them fulfill lower division general education requirements. Additional lower division general education courses are required to earn a bachelor's degree from ODU.
All lower level general education and department requirements must be completed prior to entering the Medical Laboratory Science bachelor's program.

A clinical rotation is not required if you are a certified medical laboratory technician.
You may need to take additional free electives to reach 120 credit hours minimum overall and 30 credit minimum taken at ODU.
Upper-Division General Education Requirements
There are four options to complete these course requirements. We recommend that MLS students complete Option D, two courses from outside the College of Health Sciences. One of the courses can be a "T" course, which means it will also fulfill the general education "Impact of Technology" lower level general education requirement.
- Option A. An approved minor, second degree or second major from outside the College of Health Sciences. (12 credit hours minimum)
- Option B. Interdisciplinary Minor from outside the College of Health Sciences. (12 credit hours)
- Option C. International business and regional courses or an approved certification program, such as teaching licensure.
- Option D: two courses from outside the College of Health Sciences. (6 credits)
