Local Classrooms

10 multipurpose distance learning origination classrooms, Norfolk Va,

1 to 1 ratio between teaching instructors and live support technicians

Similar to the conference rooms, participants do not need to worry about the technology or technical issues, these issues are handled behind the scenes by technical staff, allowing participants to focus on the content, the discussion, and the interaction.

Used to originate videoconferencing, digital satellite, and/or video streaming courses

These classrooms are not dedicated to specific delivery technology, rather through the main routing switcher these classrooms can originate content to be distributed in various formats.

Sony 3CCD document and instructor cameras

These cameras are used to capture the instructor or the presenter, as well documents, notes, diagrams, maps, or specific devices and components

ParkerVision 1CCD and 3CCD student cameras w/ auto microphone tracking

These cameras show the students and are configured such that the camera will automatically move and zoom onto specific students as they press the button on the microphones and begin talking.

Crestron touchpanel control

Similar to the conference rooms, touch panel interfaces are provided for participants who would like to optionally control the classroom themselves.

Samsung 46 & 50" LCD & Plasma displays

Large screen, high definition monitors replace the older CRT televisions and provide high resolution, brighter displays, and much more vivid colors that standard definition monitors.

Videotek video production switchers

These video switchers control all classroom video sources including the cameras, DVD and VHS tape players, PCs, and laptops, also provides special effects such as Picture in Picture, and creates a video output depending on which source is being used.

Mackie audio mixers

Similar to the video switcher, these audio mixer control all of the classroom's audio sources including the instructor and student microphones, the DVD and VHS players, PC and laptop audio, as well as audio from videoconferencing locations.

ParkerVision push-to-talk microphones

These microphones are positioned at each student desk and are used by students to talk to the instructor and other students, and to activate the automated pan/tilt/zoom features of the camera.

Tao microphone mixers

The ParkerVision student microphones interface with Tao microphone mixers which provide power to the microphones and combines their audio into a single mix that is sent o the main audio mixer.

Gateway PC workstations

Each room has a PC workstation use by the presenter or instructor to display content.These PCs have Internet connectivity, the Microsoft Office Suite, and can accommodate USB storage devices.

Laptop Interface

Each classroom also has an optional interface to plug in laptops for video and audio presentations.

Sony DVD recorders

All events are recorded onto DVD, this master DVD can then be duplicated for participants who missed the event.

Custom instructor consoles

Each classroom has a custom desk console to accommodate the PCs, laptops, touchpanels, and monitors used by the instructors and presenters during the event.
