Do I need video media?
Research has shown that the use of visual images significantly improves retention of information. The use of video media allows you to record your message once and repeat it to many audiences.

Who is The Video Group?
The Video Group at Old Dominion University is an experienced television production team that includes producers, directors, writers, videographers and editors who provide broadcast quality video production, from conception to completion.

Who can use The Video Group?
The unit offers a full spectrum of production services to the Old Dominion University community and beyond. Our off-campus clients include NASA, NOAA, the cities of Norfolk and Hampton, the Virginia Department of Education, the Virginia Space Grant Consortium, and community service organizations of all types.

Where is The Video Group located?
Our state-of-the-art production facility is housed in the Gornto TELETECHNET Center.The 40x60-foot production studio is equipped with a computerized Strand Century lighting system, and three digital studio cameras outfitted with TelePrompTers.

Does The Video Group shoot "on location?"
The Group has done video production "on location" as near as a classroom on the campus, and as far away as Arizona and Washington state. Our field production packages are outfitted with Sony XDCam and DVCam digital camcorders, wireless microphones, Lowell lighting packages, and a field TelePrompTer.

Does The Video Group also put the finished project together?
Yes, we have three digital non-linear editing bays running Final Cut Pro, and staffed by experienced editors. Our Graphics and Paint Suite is equipped with an Apple MacPro hosting Mac and Adobe graphics and Lightwave 3-D animation software.

What will my production cost?
Production prices vary widely based on scope of the production, length, number of cameras, amount of editing, use of facilities, etc.Pricing follows the University Board of Visitors approved pricing guide.We have also made a condensed price list available and have some example package price quotes available.

What type of finished product does The Video Group provide?
There are many options for video delivery, and The Video Group is very experienced with creating products in many formats.We can help you determine the best format for your needs and budget,We can create your project for digital or analog videotape, DVD, CD-Rom, video Podcasts, and for live or asynchronous videostream. We can also arrange for small or large-scale duplication.
