Delivery Modes
Old Dominion is a pioneer in telecommunications and continuing education, and is a renowned leader in distance learning. The University has achieved great success and exceeded growth projections since introducing its intereactive television, satellite delivery network (TELETECHNET), in 1994.
Old Dominion has expanded course delivery modes, using interactive television, online, CD-ROM, and video streaming, to provide flexibility and to extend higher education opportunities to students in Virginia and beyond. Many Distance Learning courses use a combination of technologies such as the interactive television and the Internet. A class may be delivered via interactive television with abbreviated scheduled meeting times, and also rely upon required Internet or group activities for the remaining course time. It is important that students understand the course requirements and expectations of mixed media courses before enrolling in the course.
