Revenue Sharing Approved for Online Programs

On July 1, 2010, Provost Carol Simpson and Interim Associate Vice President Andy Casiello announced the implementation of a revenue sharing standard developed to incentivize colleges, departments and faculty to create and support asynchronous online programs (undergraduate degree completion programs, graduate programs, and certificate programs).

This measure addresses the first goal in the University’s Strategic Plan, which calls for the "development of attractive and effective learning environments." It also supports the Board of Visitor’s request for a plan to develop new online programs. Academic Affairs and Distance Learning recently responded to this request with a proposal to develop a minimum of 10 new asynchronous online degree programs. Subsequently, the University approved the proposal and Distance Learning conducted preliminary discussions with colleges and departments to identify potential new programs.
