University Nationally Ranked Among Best Business Schools for Veterans
Old Dominion has been ranked 32nd in the country among best business schools for veterans in a national ranking released March 10 by the national publication Military Times.
And the rankings for ODU stand to go up when it introduces its online M.B.A. program in fall 2014.
Kiran Karande, associate dean of ODU's College of Business Administration and director of the school's M.B.A. program, said the military is an extremely important component of its business student body.
Karande said the new ODU online M.B.A. program "will offer three options for a high quality M.B.A - an online M.B.A., an on-campus M.B.A. or a hybrid combination of both online and on-campus."
Karande said the hybrid program will be ideal for a service member who might get deployed part way through his or her studies, by offering an opportunity to start or finish the program in person, with the rest of the coursework being completed online.
About 140 colleges and universities participated in the detailed, nearly 80-question survey, which delved into school culture, student support, academic outcomes and quality, academic policies, and cost and financial aid. Only 64 schools were selected for the national rankings by Military Times, an organization comprising Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times run by media conglomerate Gannett Co.
The Military Times rankings focused on culture and curriculum that caters to military veterans when conducting and scoring the second annual Best for Vets: Business Schools survey, a highly respected, nearly 80-question analysis of a school's complete offerings for veterans. The rankings are published in full in the March issue of Military Times EDGE magazine, the premier publication for military transition, and online at MilitaryTimes.com, as well as ArmyTimes.com, NavyTimes.com, AirForceTimes.com and MarineCorpsTimes.com.
