Navy College: Eligibility and Admission

  • Check Ratings and Roadmaps. Find out what degree you are eligible for based on your rating.  Also, look at what courses are required and what credits you may have already earned from military training.
  • Look at the Degree Programs. See which distance learning delivery methods are used for the program. Get familiar with the curriculum and course descriptions.
  • Find Out if You're Eligible for Enrollment Now. Old Dominion University offers upper division courses by distance education. To enroll in this program, you must have completed a substantial amount of the lower division general education requirements. ODU requires a minimum of a 2.20 GPA (on a 4 point scale), earned with grades on at least 25 semester hours or 42 quarter hours of college courses. Additional requirements for each major are specified in the Degree Programs section.
  • Read the Advising Information. Learn about the University's general education requirements and equivalent courses from other institutions. This section also includes information on CLEP and DANTES tests that can be used to satisfy ODU degree requirements.
  • Obtain an unofficial evaluation. Send your transcripts to Dr. Rob Curry by email (rcurry@odu.edu) or fax (757-683 -3106). If you use fax, please include a cover sheet with Dr. Curry's name and your email address. The SMART Summary is sufficient for a review of military credits.
