Tuition Assistance (TA)
Tuition Assistance (TA) is the Navy's educational financial assistance program. It provides active duty personnel funding for courses taken in an off-duty status at an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical institution. TA does not pay for books. It can be used for both classroom and independent study/distance learning courses.
For more information on Tuition Assistance, check with the nearest Navy College Office, or visit their Tuition Assistance web page.
Requesting Tuition Assistance
To request TA, Navy students should take the following steps:
- Complete an Tuition Assistance Application
. The form is available from the Navy College Office, the student's parent command, or it can be downloaded.
- The student should complete the form in its entirety taking care to indicate the course (s) for which he/she will enroll. There is a block for the applicant's commanding officer, executive officer, or officer in charge to sign.
- Submit the application to the Navy College Office. The Navy College Office will process the request, and if approved, will sign it, and return the application to the Sailor.
- The Sailor can then submit the Tuition Assistance Application via fax to:
Old Dominion University
Cashier's Office
Norfolk, VA 23529
Phone: 1 (757) 683-3030
