Santa Finds Time for Classes at Old Dominion

What does Santa do when he wants to pursue higher education? He takes distance learning classes, of course! That's right, Santa Claus, a. k.a. 71-year-old Harry Untiedt, is a Human Services major at ODU's Yavapai College site in Verde Valley, AZ. (Human Services - what else would Santa major in?) With a full beard, he plays "the Real Santa" to children in California and several schools on the Arizona reservation. On top of his amazing feats during the holidays, "Santa" has hiked rim to rim at the Grand Canyon in 23 hours, has been a world class scuba diver, a pilot, has parachuted out of a plane and seen the earth from a hang glider - all without the aid of magic reindeer. For 10 years, Mr. Untiedt has been an Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor for local inmates. Having lived life to its fullest, this gentleman begins his degree program at the age of 71 to continue helping those in his community. He is a true inspiration to all!
