Military Distance Learning Site Coordinator Wins 2005 ODU Customer Relations Award

Pat Capezio, military distance learning site coordinator at Naval Station Norfolk, was honored Nov. 30 as Old Dominion's Customer Relations Employee of the Year. The award is sponsored by the Department of Human Resources and was presented by President Roseann Runte at the Annual Recognition Program. Thirteen employees were nominated.

Capezio, who has represented the university at Navy bases since 1988, says, "I do anything I can for students, short of going to class for them."

Capezio's caring nature was noted by those who nominated her for the award:

"Pat treats everyone who walks into her office as if they were members of her own family. Her sincere, caring demeanor is communicated in many ways beginning with a warm welcome and a cheerful smile. She takes the time that is needed to attend to the needs of every person from the moment they walk through her door. Pat developed the concept of a full-service site that enables most students to obtain all the services they need from ODU without having to also visit the main campus.
