Inclement Weather Policy
All sites should have an Inclement Weather Policy in place for students. Normally, site offices close and classes are cancelled when the community colleges/host sites cancel classes due to inclement weather or unforeseeable reasons such as flooding, etc. Because so many TELETECHNET sites are within the same media listening and viewing area, Old Dominion University sites usually do not announce closings and cancellations via the media. Rather, students can assume that if their host community college is closed or on a delayed schedule, the notification pertains to them as well. To be certain about your site's policy, check with site staff.
If an examination is missed or an assignment cannot be turned in due to the cancellation or delay of classes, your site director will contact the respective professor(s) and make other arrangements for you. When classes are cancelled at distant sites, the Norfolk campus will send the site a video copy of each course. Multiple copies will be made for large classes and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Although unlikely, it is possible that Old Dominion may cancel classes on main campus due to inclement weather or other forces of nature. Once Distance Learning is made aware of this, distant sites will make every effort to notify students.
