Students with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, along with partnerships with local government, regional industries, and the Department of Defense, add real-life relevancy to the ODU MBA learning experience.
Old Dominion's online MBA program is an accelerated degree program. Course sessions are eight weeks long, but still contain all the information covered in a standard semester. This means you could earn your MBA from ODU faster than in a typical program.
Enhance your degree with an add-on certificate in one of ODU's nationally recognized areas of expertise:
- Modeling, Simulation and Visualization
- Maritime, Ports & Logistics Management
- Public Procurement & Contract Management
If you have a business undergraduate degree from an accredited institution may be able to complete the MBA in as little as 21 months. Or, complete your MBA program at a pace that suits your lifestyle.
Students interested in finding the best online MBA programs should know that ODU's Master of Business Administration degree program has been accredited since 1964 by the AACSB, the premiere business college accrediting body. We are one of fewer than 200 schools with dual Business and Accounting accreditation from AACSB.
As an accelerated program, ODU's MBA course sessions are eight weeks long.
Our curriculum will give you the opportunity to work on real business cases in the business community and solve real business problems. Applicants who do not have a business background will be given the opportunity to catch up on foundational skills in their first semester.
The courses in the add-on certificates can meet the elective requirements in the MBA program, saving you time when you pursue both.
More details are available in ODU's Graduate Catalog.
No previous business prerequisites are required to apply. Please visit the Strome College of Business web site for full application requirements, including a checklist and deadlines.
ODU’s MBA program may waive the GMAT/GRE admission requirement if you have a master’s or terminal degree, a combination of civilian or military experience and academics, official documentation of expired GMAT or GRE scores, or are a current ODU undergraduate with a high cumulative GPA. Click here for eligibility details (PDF), or download the waiver application form (PDF).
Many returning adults students bring significant knowledge and skills from the workplace that may apply to this MBA degree. ODU's Experiential Learning Program can give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you know and earn academic credit for that knowledge.
This program is primarily asynchronous, which means you access course material online from any location with an Internet connection and complete coursework following a defined course schedule.
Courses may include live synchronous meetings scheduled at times throughout the semester. These sessions help connect you with your professor and your peers by creating opportunity for live interaction, discussion and questions.
ODU MBA Student Experiences
The faculty and staff of the MBA program at ODU are exceptional. They promote a warm and encouraging --yet challenging-- environment where I feel supported while juggling demands of school and work.
- Rebecca A. Hinkle, Communications Director, American Red Cross Mid-Atlantic Blood Services Region
As a full time employee, parent and spouse, flexibility was a key factor in where I went to grad school. ODU's program not only accomodates my schedule, but the professors understand that we have lives outside of school, too. Had it not been for ODU's program, I wouldn't have gone to grad school.
- Christine Hill, '05
Old Dominion's MBA was perfect for me. I needed the flexibility of classes, electives and locations around my work schedule. The practical approaches to business challenges and emphasis on class teams have proven themselves to be very useful in my career.
