Overview
Designed for licensed dental hygienists, this online degree completion program in dental hygiene builds on the knowledge students have already acquired.
There are no “clinicals” in the traditional sense. Students are prepared with knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for a wide range of employment opportunities and a foundation for graduate study.
ODU's dental hygiene program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education.
Accelerated Option: Undergraduates can choose to "accelerate" through the baccalaureate to the master's program by using a common 12-hour graduate credit core toward each degree. Students must apply separately to the BSDH and MS programs and submit the "Undergraduate Request to Take Graduate Courses" form available at the Registrar's web site.
Admissions Requirements
A separate application to the School of Dental Hygiene is required. Students may begin the program in any semester.
Before taking any Dental Hygiene course, students must have a current certificate in Basic Life Support (CPR and Obstructed Airway).
Accelerated Option: To be eligible to enroll in graduate courses, you must have a 3.2 grade point average, senior standing, and permission of your advisor.
