ODU's electrical and computer engineering faculty have combined decades of training and expertise. Through their experience, you will learn both engineering theory and practical application.

Our faculty members are active in cutting-edge research projects and work with various research centers on campus. These include the Applied Research Center, the Frank Reidy Center of Bioelectrics, the Laser and Plasma Engineering Institute, the Virginia Institute for Photovoltaics, and the Virginia Modeling, Analysis, and Simulation Center.

When you graduate, you will earn a Master of Science with a major in Engineering and a concentration in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

    • 30 credit hours minimum

    Your total number of credit hours may vary depending on your undergraduate coursework. This Master of Science requires a final project instead of a thesis. The online course schedule can help you plan your course of study.

    Additional graduate courses are offered through the Commonwealth Graduate Engineering Program (CGEP) and the Virginia Consortium for Engineering and Science.

  • Participate in live, regularly scheduled online class meetings and access course materials online from any location. All courses follow ODU's regular academic calendar.

  • Our graduates have been employed as electrical and computer engineers supporting industries such as:

    • manufacturing
    • systems integration
    • shipbuilding

    They are also employed as researchers by private research and development labs or by federally funded organizations. Some of our graduates also pursue doctoral degrees and research-oriented careers.

  • To apply, you should have: 

    • a B.S. degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering
    • a minimum grade point average of 3.0 overall and in your major
