Information Systems & Technology (minor)

The minor in information systems provides you with a technical background in computer-based business information systems as well as a broad perspective of the business environments in which information systems plays both strategic and basic functional roles.

Coursework in this minor emphasizes the development of skills in business information systems analysis, design, and implementation.

Required Courses

Required courses in this minor are IT 361, IT 450, and IT 473 (for a total of nine credits). You must choose one course (three credits) from a list of electives to complete the minor. Please refer to the ODU Undergraduate Catalog for course information.

Learning Environment

Courses are offered in these technologies:

Online synchronous: Access course material online from any location and participate in live, regularly scheduled online class meetings.

Online Asynchronous: Access course materials online from any location. These courses require little to no synchronous (same-time) scheduled class meetings, but assignments and exams are scheduled by the instructor. All courses follow ODU's regular academic calendar.

Admission Information

This minor can only be completed as part of an undergraduate degree from ODU. You will need to be accepted into ODU as an undergraduate degree-seeking student.

All ODU undergraduate distance learning programs are degree completion programs.
