This program is available only to graduates of the United States Navy Nuclear Power School or Nuclear Reactor Operator training at Dominion Energy.
Eligible Navy ratings are EM (NUC), ET (NUC), and MM (NUC).
Your courses in this program are in areas such as computer-aided drafting, statics, strength of materials, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, automation and controls, and computer solid modeling. Your culminating experience is a senior project that integrates course work with a practical project assignment in your area of interest.
You must select a minor from the College of Engineering & Technology or the College of Sciences. To satisfy the upper-division general education requirements, we recommend a minor in Engineering Management.

ODU's Mechanical Engineering Technology program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ETAC of ABET).
Based on your professional education in nuclear power, you may receive advanced standing credits that apply to the MET degree from ODU. Talk with an advisor to determine how your credits will transfer. The curriculum sheets below can serve as a guide for planning your course of study.
This is a degree completion program.
To declare a major in Mechanical Engineering Technology, you must be accepted into ODU as a degree-seeking student and have ENGL 110C credit. You must also have completed U.S. Navy Nuclear Power School or Nuclear Reactor Operator training at Dominion Energy.
